Ten successful female entrepreneurs of India

We are living in an era where women have negated all the misconceptions on their abilities and proved themselves to be perfectly capable of handling every role they are handed. This is the list of ten such women from the country and let me tell you this is not the exhaustive list.

1. Kiran Mazumdar Shah:


The chairman and the Managing Director of Biocon limited, she has helped the company to grow into a global leader in biomedicine. She is the proud recipient of the leading honors in the country – Padma Shri (1989) and Padma Bhushan (2005) and is also part of the board governing the IIT, Hyderabad and Indian school of business.

2. Shahnaz Husain:


Called as the “Queen of Herbal beauty care”, she is the founder of Shahnaz Herbals co, which specializes in herbal beauty products  and has clinics in more than 130 countries in the world.  Apart from Padma Shri in 2006, she was also named as the  “World’s greatest Woman Entrepreneur” by Success Magazine in 1996.

3. Ravina Raj Kohli:


Featured in the list of top 20 female professionals in the country, she has worked as CEO in Sony Entertainment Television, Channel 9 and at Star News. She founded the company Jobcorp company pvt ltd which works in empowering women.

4. Rashmi Sinha:

Ranked among the top ten women influencers in web, she co-founded the Slideshare, which was later acquired by LinkedIn. She is also considered among the most powerful female entrepreneurs in the world.

5. Richa Kar:


Founder of Zivame, the online lingerie shop, she has been educating women across the country on the importance of inner wear and has played a crucial role in shaping the behavior of consumers.

6. Suchi Mukerjee:


Another fashion entrepreneur, she is the co founder of the online apparel store Limeroad. She was named among the top 15 rising and high potential talented women under the age of 40 in the world.

7. Ekta Kapoor:


The television series that you watch now is all thanks to this lady. She is the founder of Balaji Telefilms and is now the creative head of the same company. Her production house has given so many hits in the Indian television history.

8. Chanda Kochar:


Named the Business Woman of 2005, by Economic times, she has won many accolades in her stint as the CEO and MD of the private bank, ICICI in India. Under her guidance the bank has won continuously the best retail bank in the country award.

9. Naina Lal Kidwai:


Another banker, heading the HSBC group in the country, she has also held many positions including the prestigious Auditor general of India in her earlier stints. She was also the first Indian women to graduate from the Harvard School of Business.

10. Vandana Luthra:


VLCC is a name associated with beauty and fitness and the credit goes to Vandana who is the founder. She was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2013 and has also been named the 33rd rank in the most powerful woman in the country by Fortune India.
