Our first President of republic India, Dr Rajendra Prasad is one of the foremost disciples of Gandhiji. Born on 3rd December, 1884, he has played a crucial role in freedom struggle. Though he was a lawyer by profession, he left his lucrative job and joined the Indian National congress. Dr Rajendra Prasad was imprisoned twice by Britishers for supporting Gandhiji. After the independence, he was elected as first president of India and was re elected again and hence  took the post twice.

The 11th President of India, Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam is a Scientist by profession.  He was born on 15th October, 1931 and was awarded with highest Bharat Ratna. Also, Dr Kalam was affectionately called as “People’s President”.  He was a pioneer for important programs like Nuclear Weapons Program and India’s Ballistic Missile.

Our well known 3rd President of India gains the place of being First Muslim President of India. Zakir Hussain was born on 8th February, 1897. He was the shortest serving president since he died during his tenure in office. He received the highest award Bharat ratna and was also the vice chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University.

Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma was the 9th President of India and was serving from 25th July, 1992 to 25 July, 1997. He was also holding the post of chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Minister for communications, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Maharashtra. He was also serving as 8th Vice President of India prior to his Presidency. Born in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, R Venkatraman is Lawyer by Profession. He practiced Law in Madras High Court and Supreme Court of India. In his young age, he even participated in Quit India Movement. Before his presidency, he was elected as 7th Vice president of India. He also served as Finance minister and Defence Minister.

Our 6th President Mr. Neelam Sanjiva Reddy was born on 19th May, 1913 in Anatpur District of Andhra Pradesh. His tenure period was from 1977 to 1982. Mr Neelam Sanjiva Reddy was the youngest Indian president also the first chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. He was also elected as Lok Sabha speaker on 26, March 1977. During Freedom struggle, he was in-fact imprisoned by British for participating in Quit India movement.
