1. Mohammed Rafi:Mohammed Rafi

He was born on 24 December 1924 and also popularly known as Rafi Sahib. Sad

numbers to romantic numbers patriotic to classical numbers; he sung every type of song

and was known as a versatile singer. He was awarded with many awards like Filmfare

and National Film Award etc. The government of India also honored him with Padma

Shri. He also sung many songs in languages like Assamese, Konkani, Bhojpuri, Odia,

Punjabi, Bengali and many others. Not just in Indian industry, he also sang songs in

Dutch, Farsi, English, and Arabic.


2. Lata Mangeshkar:1.lata

This legend was born in Indore on 28 September 1929. She is popularly known as Didi

in Indian Film industry. She has made a record of signing songs in 36 regional

languages which include Marathi and Hindi. After MS Subbulakshmi, she is the one to

be honored with Bharat Ratna award as a vocalist. She has recorded around 1000 of

Hindi songs. Dadasaheb Phalke award is the most prestigious award in the Indian

industry and she owns the one. She started her career in 1942.


3. Kishore Kumar:kishore-kumar

He is an actor, lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and a singer. This

multitalented person was born on 4 th August1929. He has been honoured 8times with

the Filmfare Award as best male playback singer. Madhya Pradesh government also

awarded him with the prestigious award called Lata Mangeshkar award. He died on13

October1987. He started his career by making an appearance in the movie Shikari

released in 1946. His real name was Abhas Kumar. He is known as one of the most

creative playback singers. It was amazing how well he use to play with songs and make

them interesting.


4. A.R. Rahman:AR-Rahman

He is the man who created history. A.R. Rahman was named as A.S. Dileep kumar on

6 th January1967 in Chennai during his birth. He is a philanthropists, singer, musician,

producer, composer, song writer. He has won many awards whether national or

international. He is also called as the Mozart of Madras. His work is basically the

combination of Eastern classical music with electronic music, world music, and

traditional orchestral arrangements.


5. Sonu Nigam:


He was born on 30 th July, 1973. He is a versatile singer who sings many languages like

Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Odia, and Nepali. Pop Rock, classical, semi

classical, Ghazal, playback singing ate his genres. He is inspired by the legendary

singer Mohammad Rafi and his singing is somewhat similar to Mohammad Rafi. He was

just 4 years old when he started singing with his father Agam Nigam. His guru who

trained him in Hindustani classical music is Ustad Ghulam Mustafa khan. He even

hosted shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Kisme Kitna Hai Dum. Later on, he was seen in

judge panel of different shows.
