Cricket though is not the national game of India yet this game is counted amongst one of the most lovable games in India. People in India worship cricketers. Indian national cricket team is also known as men in blue. Indian Cricket Team has won the world cup two times one in 1983 when Kapil Dev was the captain and other in 2011 under the captainship of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

1. Sachin Tendulkar:

He is the most loved and worshipped cricketer in India. He was born on 24 April 1973 and started playing cricket at the age of 11. He played his first match at the age of 16 in 1989. He is a right handed batsman and also known by the name master blaster. He has been honoured with awards like Arjuna Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Padma Shri, Padma Vibhushan, and Bharat Ratna award.

2. Kapil Dev:

Kapil Dev is right handed retried Indian cricketer. He was a natural striker and an aggressive player also known by the name Haryana hurricane. He retired from this game during 1994 after making the world record of maximum number of wickets taken in test cricket.  During his career he took 434 wickets and made more than 5000 runs in test matches  that makes him one of the worlds greatest all rounder.

3. Mahendra Singh Dhoni:

Also known by the names Dhoni or mahi, this right handed batsman was born on 7th July 1981 in Bihar. First time he played for Indian cricket team against Bangladesh.  Indian team was on number one position during 2009 under the captaincy of Dhoni in ICC test ranking.  He is one of the most influential people in the world as per the article of times magazine. Sports pro also rated him as the 16th most remarkable athlete.

4. Sunil Gavaskar:

Sunil Gavaskar, a name known as best opening batsman. He represented Bombay cricket team and Indian national team during 1970 and 1980s. His technique of batting against fast bowling was highly admired. He has been honoured by Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He is currently appointed at the job of cricket commentator as directed by court.

5. Rahul Dravid:

Also known as the wall this right handed batsman was born in Indore on 11 January1973. You can count him amongst the best Batsmen of Indian team. He achieved a lot of fame in his cricket career & one of them was in December2011 when he became the first non Australian cricketer to deliver Bradman oration in Canberra. He is the only player who completed a score of century in all test playing countries.

6. Virat Kohli:


Born on 5 November 1988 this boy is an Indian international cricketer and is now the captain of Indian test cricket team. He is ranked 8th in the list of world’s most famous athletes. His captainship has brought victory to Indians at Malaysia in 19 world cup. And later he played his first match against Srilanka. His achievements also include winning of Arjuna Award.
