The recommended time to visit is from December to February as the birds flock together during this period traveling grave distances from the Europe, Central Asia and Siberia. Vedanthangal Bird sanctuary is situated approximately ninety minutes away from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the oldest bird sanctuary of our country which attracts so many birds all year round especially in the months of November to February. There are two watch towers where bird watching can be observed.

7. Chilka Lake Bird Sanctuary

The Chilka Lake Bird Sanctuary is a popular tourist spot located in the lands of Orissa. This sanctuary is known for its birds which travel from Siberia during the cold season. It has been reported that 9 lakh migratory birds make a halt at this beauteous lake. The jacana, purple moorhen ,flamingos are few names of the eye-catching birds you can catch.

8. Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

This impressive sanctuary is located in Karnataka which is a home to about 170 species of domestic birds along with the migratory birds flying from North America, Australia and Siberia. You can also visit the sanctuary any time of the year but monsoons are a delight with many atypical insects and birds.
